  • When our island is in pain, we come together in strength.

On October 28th, 2025 Jamaica was devastated by Hurricane Melissa — the strongest storm ever to hit the island. The Category 5 hurricane destroyed homes, schools, hospitals, and airports, leaving over 40,000 people displaced and many still missing. For Jamaicans across the U.S., watching from afar has been heartbreaking. In response, the Jamaican Association of Massachusetts, Cambridge Carnival International, Boston JerkFest, and The Peter Tosh Foundation have united to support relief and recovery efforts for our beloved island.

Our Homes

Hurricane Melissa devastated Jamaica, leaving a trail of destruction across the island. Powerful winds and torrential rains damaged thousands of homes, forcing families to seek shelter in overcrowded emergency centers. Hospitals and schools suffered severe structural damage, disrupting essential services and displacing communities. Roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure were destroyed, cutting off access to many rural areas and making rescue efforts difficult. In the aftermath, the government and international aid organizations have begun mobilizing resources to provide relief and begin the long process of rebuilding the nation.
