What We Do
In the wake of an urgent plea for help from Adrian Laing for his 15-year-old daughter Adrianna, who suffered severe burns, the Jamaica Association of Massachusetts (JAMA) extended support to the family. Adrianna who received care at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Boston and underwent multiple corrective surgeries.
It’s great news that the Jamaican diaspora got together to lend a helping hand, providing housing accommodations, transportation, meals, and entertainment. Members also financially contributed, and JAMA collaborated with the Coalition of Jamaica Organizations (COJO) and other Jamaican Diaspora personnel to host a successful fundraiser to help the Laings.
In the spirit of “filling the barrel” for the journey home, JAMA, COJO, and other diaspora organizations successfully helped to provide household goods and other essentials for the trip back to Jamaica as the Laings rebuild and restore.
This great act of compassion and kindness is a true testament to the heart of the diaspora and the strength of the Jamaican community.
